Streamable.run and VISP can both remove the requirement to keep a production computer running at home, but they do it in different ways. Streamable.run sells a managed IRL production service built around cloud OBS and resilient ingest. VISP provides a publishing app and relay that can send a phone feed directly to Twitch, Kick, or YouTube, with your own OBS remaining optional.

The choice is not “which service has more features?” Streamable.run has the larger production package. The useful question is whether your show needs that package or only needs a reliable path from a camera to a platform.

What Streamable.run gives you

Cloud OBS is a remote production computer. Your field encoder sends video to the service, OBS composes it with scenes, browser sources, alerts, and overlays, and the finished program goes to the streaming platform. A moderator can control the show without being physically near you or your home computer.

That is valuable for a produced IRL channel. A remote operator can switch to a BRB scene when coverage disappears, manage sponsor graphics, bring in another source, and monitor the output. The monthly bill replaces a computer, its power and internet connection, and some operational work.

Streamable.run also targets creators who need resilient multi-network ingest. If your route crosses areas where no single carrier can sustain the stream, bonding multiple connections can be the deciding feature. Two weak links can be used together instead of merely keeping an identical copy on each one.

What VISP gives you

VISP starts with a smaller job. Its iOS, Android, or browser publisher sends a contribution feed to a relay. Direct can encode that feed for an authorized Twitch, Kick, or YouTube destination. The platform credential stays on the server rather than being copied onto the phone.

No home computer or cloud OBS is required for that path. For a walk-and-talk, ride, event visit, or other one-camera stream, that may be the entire required system. It is free during beta.

If a session needs production, your own OBS can read the same contribution feed as a media source. That lets you add scenes and recording when they matter while keeping simple sessions simple. The setup is described in the phone as a remote camera guide.

Cloud OBS versus a direct relay

The difference is easiest to see as two paths:

  • Streamable.run: field encoder → resilient ingest → cloud OBS → platform.
  • VISP Direct: phone or browser → relay encode → platform.

Every component can add capability and can also fail. Cloud OBS is justified when its compositor, remote controls, or managed environment are used. If the program is just the camera feed, a compositor adds cost and another operational layer without changing the picture.

VISP deliberately does not reproduce a complete hosted OBS. It has no cloud scene collection, plugin ecosystem, or browser-source canvas. Use Streamable.run or another cloud OBS service when those are requirements rather than trying to turn a relay into a production suite.

Bonding versus packet duplication

This distinction should decide the purchase for many mobile streamers.

Bonding coordinates multiple internet connections so their capacity and availability contribute to the outgoing feed. It can keep a high-bitrate stream moving where one carrier alone is insufficient. It generally needs a compatible encoder and a receiving service.

VISP's native app can duplicate packets over Wi-Fi and cellular. Both paths carry the same data, so losing one may not interrupt delivery. The stream must still fit through either path independently. There is a third option that is easy to miss. Every VISP relay accepts SRTLA on UDP 5000, so a BELABOX box or Moblin can aggregate several links and publish the result into VISP. The bonding happens in that encoder rather than in the VISP app, which means real aggregation is available today if you are willing to carry a second device. Setup is in the broadcaster setup docs.

Choose the paid bonding workflow when tests on the real route prove that no single carrier can sustain the required bitrate and carrying a separate encoder is not acceptable. Do not substitute a lower-cost feature with a similar label; the network behavior is different.

Compare the real monthly cost

A hosted service price should be compared with the system it replaces, not only with another subscription. Include a cloud or home production computer, relay capacity, operator access, support, and any required encoder or cellular plans.

VISP is the lower-cost path when you already own the phone, do not require cloud production, and can use one adequate network at a time. Streamable.run can be the lower-effort path when assembling and maintaining cloud OBS yourself would consume paid operator time.

Also count the cost of failure. A full-time creator may reasonably pay for a managed workflow, bonding, and support because one lost sponsored stream costs more than the monthly plan. A new creator testing a format should not accept the same fixed cost before knowing whether the format works.

Who should choose Streamable.run

It is the stronger fit when:

  • A remote producer needs to switch scenes during the broadcast.
  • Overlays, alerts, and holding screens are part of every show.
  • True multi-connection bonding is required on the routes you use.
  • You prefer a managed production environment to maintaining your own OBS host.
  • Stream downtime has a clear business cost.

Those are substantial needs, not luxuries. Paying for the service is simpler than recreating its combined production and networking features from unrelated pieces.

Who should choose VISP

Start with VISP when:

  • The phone camera is the program and you want it sent directly to a platform.
  • You want to test IRL streaming without a large monthly commitment.
  • You sometimes use OBS but do not need it running for every session.
  • One cellular or Wi-Fi connection can sustain a sensibly chosen bitrate.
  • Keeping the platform stream key off the publishing device matters.

Run a real route test before deciding. Tune bitrate using the IRL bitrate guide, note where the link fails, and decide whether the missing capability is production, bonding, or neither.

A practical migration path

The low-risk approach is to begin with the smaller system. Authorize a destination, publish from the phone, and complete several representative streams. Add your own OBS for a produced session. If remote scene control or network conditions remain unsolved, evaluate a cloud OBS and bonding plan with specific evidence from those tests.

This is not a permanent commitment. Streamable.run is the better tool when you need a managed remote studio; VISP is the cheaper tool when you need transport and delivery. Paying for the former makes sense when the studio is doing real work. When it is not, the shorter signal path wins.
